국내 팬들에게 게리 무어는 애잔한 발라드 기타의 주인공이다. 
그가 하드록, 재즈 록, 정통 블루스 등 다방면에서 출중한 기타 솜씨를 뽐낸 인물이라는 것을 
우리 올드 팬들은 그다지 중요하게 생각하지 않는다. 
외국의 인기 여부와는 상관없이 오직 
‘Always gonna love you'', ‘Still got the blues'', ‘One day'', ‘Parisienne walkways'' 
같은 심금을 울리는 레퍼토리에 귀를 기울였고, 열광적인 성원을 보냈다. 
때문에 그는 외국 기타리스트로서는 유일하게 
우리 나라에서 대중적으로 널리 사랑 받았던, 받고 있는 뮤지션이다. 
이미 이를 예견이라도 한 듯 게리 무어는 
1984년 앨범 에 수록된 ‘Murder in the skies''를 통해 소련의 대항항공 여객기 격추사건을 신랄하게 비판하며 
국내 팬들에게 ‘지한파’로서의 이미지를 각인 시켰다.  <삽질>

게리 무어는 트리뷰트 곡이 많은 뮤지션으로도 유명한데요.
제가 오늘 선곡한 1984년 소련에 의한 KAL기 격추사건을 규탄한 'Murder in the Skies'이외에도
랜디 로즈 가 사고로 죽었을 때, 그에게 헌정하는 곡 [Sunset]을 코지 파웰 의 솔로앨범에 녹음하였고, 
절친하던 친구 필 리뇻 사망시에는 [The Loner],
로이 부케넌 이 자살했을 때에는 [Messiah will Come Again]을,
스티비 레이 본 이 사망했을 때에는 [The Sky is Crying]을 헌정했습니다.

그는 아일랜드인이지만 정서적으론 우리네와 비슷해서
우리들이 아마도 그를 더 좋아하는것 같습니다~^^*
